SYNOPSIS
CERTIFIED FIBRE OPTICS TECHNICIANS (CFOT)
Certified Fiber Optic Technician
training is designed for experienced workers who desire a fundamental knowledge of fiber optic theory,
codes, standards and practices widely accepted in the telecommunications industry today.
This course is an excellent starting point for those who install, design, or supervise the installation of
fiber optic systems.
TARGET AUDIENCE
Fiber Optic Fundamentals is designed for new or experienced telecom workers seeking a deeper
understanding of fiber optic theory and cabling systems.
Course Prerequisites
No prior experience is necessary.
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
The primary focus of this course is to provide a comprehensive coverage of the best practices for the
deployment of optical communication networks.Optical fiber installation, fusion & mechanical splicing,
connectorization, acceptance testing, troubleshooting, and much more is taught with lots of hands-on
practice.Comprehensive hands-on activities and the underlying theory are combined to provide a firm
understanding of the concepts underpinning the deployment of optical communication networks. Also
provided is coverage of the major developments in wide-band, optical cross connect, transceiver, and
waveguide type devices that lay the foundation for next-generation networks.
CERTIFIED FIBER OPTICS SPECIALIST/HOME FIBER (CFOS/H)
The Certification at this level indicates a professional level of technical competence in Fiber-to-the-
Home technologies. For those new to Home Fiber, this two-day course will provide a solid foundation
on which to build towards FTTH network design, planning and management responsibilities. For
experienced professionals, the CFOS/H course will ensure your familiarity with the most current
information and expand your scope beyond your areas of specialization today.
